Location — zoom to position (desktop)

Next to the Location switch on the desktop top bar, a new Zoom to location checkbox controls whether the map moves to your GPS position when a fix is available.

  • When Location is on, the blue position marker and status coordinates behave as before.
  • With Zoom to location checked, the map eases to your position at zoom level 16 (not only a pan at the current zoom).
  • This happens when a fix arrives after you turn location on, or when you check the box while location is already active.
  • Your choice is remembered in the browser (localStorage) for future sessions.
  • Saved .geov projects can store the setting under settings.json → ui.locationZoomTo (with ui.locationEnabled).

Field mode on phones does not show this control.

Location on phones (field mode)

  • The Location switch is back in More.
  • New Locate me via website in More: opens gis.com.my/mgs/locate/location.html, which gets your position with the usual Firefox prompt and hands it to the add-on. Works around Firefox for Android not allowing location for add-on pages (Mozilla bug 1336194).
  • It gives a single position. Tap it again to refresh. The position never leaves the phone.
  • Desktop location is unchanged.
