Dear List,
The response on this has been astounding. Overall, downloading Waypoint+ AND
the ArcView extension, AVGarmin, was the easiest and trouble free. I was
also given a set of detailed directions, step-by-step, to download
waypoints/tracks and how to bring them into ArcView. This is a must have and
is available by request.

Does someone know the freeware equivelent of Pathfinder but for a Garmin
12XL?

I don't know of a Pathfinder equivalent, but there are two software
applications which convert downloaded Waypoint+
(http://www.tapr.org/~kh2z/Waypoint/) files to shape files.  --Collin

There is another ArcView extension that reads Waypoint+ files.  It is called
AVGarmin, and was created by the California Department of Game and Fish.  It
